Vinitaly International Academy
Vinitaly International Academy (VIA) is proud to announce that the reformatted version of the Italian Wine Ambassador Certification Course will once again be coming to Hong Kong SAR China this November 2019.
Back by popular demand, this will be the second edition of this reformatted version of the course. Faculty members, Sarah Heller MW and Henry Davar IWE have designed the course to give students the confidence to become adept Ambassadors of Italian wine.
The VIA Italian Wine Certification Course represents a unique opportunity for wine professionals all over Asia to gain extensive knowledge through leading wine experts on the subject of Italian grape varieties and the regions where they are grown. The course does not just offer hours of in-depth classroom teaching but also the opportunity to taste representative examples of Italian wines. Instruction entails four full days of in-class work, the final day will be taken up with the examination process. The experience also includes an innovative group video project that encourages after-class networking among the students. The course helps students of Italian wine to understand the nuances and complexities of native grapes and their numerous varieties, they will also learn about wine in combination with food and Italian culture.
The instructors are experienced and knowledgeable, they believe that a course such as this one should allow students to taste as many wines as possible, and so tastings are given just as much importance as the in-depth theory portions. There are two formats for the tastings: Tasting Labs which resemble a buffet-style wine tasting experience, and Guided Tastings that are instructional in nature. We firmly believe this course will help students build their confidence and knowledge-base so that they can talk about Italian wine, the grapes, territories and culture in a broader context.
